Before there was Christopher Walken to hold reign as cinema's elder whatizit, we had creepy old John Carradine manning that post, and what a career John had. And what a family he sired (he was the dad of David, Keith, and Robert).
These vignettes were very short pieces of macabre artwork that "Night Gallery" displayed in 25 minutes on a Sunday night, and this Carradine chestnut comes from Season 2, Episode 8 in 1971. Vincent Van Patten is the young digger in this episode, and those Van Patten boys were all over TV when we were growing up (there were a whole bunch of Van Pattens, James and Timothy Van Patten among them).
