The Original Archon Hunters

August 2, 2020

Dog-1

I totally remember the year Scooby showed up. 1969. Along with "H.R. Pufnstuf", and then later on "Lidsville", "Land of the Lost", and "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters". Saturday mornings were a fiesta.

In a way Saturday mornings were my secret because I seemed to discover them all on my own — and quite by accident — one Saturday morning when the humans were still sleeping. (I was soon to learn that Saturday mornings were a kind of Kryptonite to the humans for reasons that were never fully clear to me). Saturdays were just narcotic to them and that was fine with me because I was free to explore my secret world with Scooby and Shaggy and Jimmy and Freddy and Jonny Quest and the whole ever-expanding gang.

I quickly added cereal-in-bed to the highly-classified Saturday ritual and I studied things very carefully. All of my new friends seemed to be somehow battling naughty people. It's a thing in the human world. There was a wicked witch in "Pufnstuf", a dastardly dark magician in "Lidsville", hungry dinosaurs in "Land of the Lost", and monsters in "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters". "Jonny Quest" was high-octane adventure combatting psychopaths, and Scooby Doo and friends saved the world every single week from nasty ugly archons.

HEY, SCOOBY, WHAT'S AN ARCHON?

Archons are said to be intelligent beings that come from another world that are attracted to negativity and feed from it, altering our perceptions and behavior so to keep us firmly grounded in such emotions. These ancient beings, known as the Archons, were first written about by the Gnostics, [whose writings were] discovered in a series of books hidden deep within an ancient cave. These beings are said to be as old as our planet if not older — maybe the governors of our universe.
